Engorgio! SPEWW is expanding our magical footprint! This spring we’re taking the best parts of Wizarding Weekend and Leaky Con, adding some new fun elements, and creating our own Wizarding Con we’re calling Cauldron Con.
You’ve given us your suggestions and favorite parts of the conventions you already attend and we’ve put them all in the (Leaky) cauldron and come up with a brand new spellbinding convention for all ages that will make your little Wizarding hearts happy. While we don’t have all the details yet, we do know it will be a full day of amazing vendors, artists, entertainment, panels, crafts, and more! Here are just a few of the things you can look forward to:
An app that will make it easy to keep track of the things on the schedule you’re interested in
Muggle magician DR Schreiber, the Historical Conjurer, will be doing a performance
One of our crafty witches will be holding a class where you can make your own Howler
Adventurous Aromas will host a candlemaking class – they will also be vending their amazing candles
Misplaced Magical Creatures will host a mini creature workshop – they will also be vending
Boys & Girls Aid will be on-site to chat about their organization and run a panel
Friendly House’s Elder Pride Services will be on-site to tell you more about their services
We have tons of great vendors already on our list. Once those contracts are signed, we’ll start announcing them (we’re already 40% full!)
As always, this will be an event for charity. Cauldron Con will benefit Friendly House’s Elder Pride Services, a nonprofit organization whose work supports the older LGBTQ+ community through advocacy, outreach, education, and resource development. Many elder queer people face isolation and difficulty in finding community and services that still include them, so Friendly House makes sure they have access to those, bring in lecturers & musicians, and take them on outings to theatrical performances.

adults: $20
children who are not old enough to attend magic school (10 and under): $15
family pass (2 adults + 2 children): $50
crafting sessions will be an add-on, because we will have limited space and supplies + we don’t want to charge more for tickets, when some folks may not be interested in participating
Crowne Plaza will have a cash bar in the ballroom lobby, featuring magical drinks, and will also have food available for purchase. Their restaurant on site is only a few steps away and has an enchanting menu as well. There is parking available for a fee, or you can park on the street, or take TriMet. More details to come, of course.
In the meantime, if you are a vendor who wants to snag a spot, or a business who’d like to sponsor a part of this con, we want to hear from you! “Headmaster” Level – $1000
Make the event possible! Your sponsorship grants you a convention table, your name/logo on event signage, social media thanks, free featured placement in our con app, and ten (10) free passes for your use or to give away.
“Professor” Level – $500
Make our programming amazing! Sponsors at this level receive a convention table, your name/logo on event signage, social media thanks, free featured placement in our con app, and four (4) free passes for your use or to give away.
“Student” Level – $250
Make the details magical! Sponsors at this level receive a convention table, your name/logo on event signage, social media thanks, free featured placement in our con app, and two (2) free passes for your use or to giveaway.

We will also need quite a few volunteers to help us pull this off, so if you are interested in helping in any way (quick turnaround the craft room, handing out supplies, running the merch table, checking in attendees, etc), we have a form for that, too!
Yes, we are asking for all the help everywhere very early, but without things on the schedule and money in the bank, this event can’t exist, so we would love to get everything on the books as soon as possible. Thanks for continuing to support and be part of our great Society!
